A vehicle crashed with a car on Wednesday night (May 3) in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, killing at least 11 persons, according to news agency ANI, citing a police officer. The accident happened on National Highway-30 near Jagatra in the Balod district.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also acknowledged the disaster, expressing regret at the loss of life and praying for the recovery of the injured. Speaking about the incident, he stated that the car was on its way to a wedding when it crashed near Balodgahan, between Purur and Charma.
“It has just been reported that ten people were killed and one girl is critically injured in a collision between a Bolero and a truck travelling to a wedding near Balodgahan between Purur and Charma in Balod.” May God grant the departed souls serenity and courage to their families. “I pray for the injured girl’s recovery,” remarked Baghel on Twitter.
The injured have been moved to the Indian city of Raipur for medical care, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Balod Jitendra Kumar Yadav, as the search for the truck driver continues.
