YouTube will now allow anyone with 500 subscribers to earn money

Are you a YouTube video creator who is struggling to attract more subscribers? The minimum subscriber count has now been reduced from 1000 to 500 by the Google-owned video provider. YouTube is making significant adjustments to its monetization regulations in order to provide more chances to the platform’s smaller artists. The business said that it is lowering the eligibility standards for the YouTube Partner Programme and broadening the range of monetization options available to creators with lesser followings.

Previously, creators had to meet certain criterias to join the YouTube Partner Program and monetize their content. However, under the new policy, creators will only need to have 500 subscribers to be eligible, which is half the previous requirement. Along with that watch hour criteria has been lowered from 4,000 to 3,000, and the requirement for Shorts views has been reduced from 10 million to 3 million. These updated requirements will initially be implemented in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea.

While smaller creators will now have more opportunities to monetize their content on YouTube, they will still need to grow their audience and meet certain benchmarks to earn ad revenue. The existing requirements for revenue sharing will remain unchanged, but creators who have already qualified for the YouTube Partner Program will not need to reapply once they meet the higher thresholds.

YouTube has been actively encouraging creators to generate revenue through its ad revenue sharing program, particularly with the introduction of an ad revenue sharing program for Shorts, the platform’s short-form content. By allowing creators to monetize their content, YouTube aims to incentivize them and further enhance its short-form content offerings.
