Spotify Hikes Premium Plan Prices in India by Up to 28% After Six Years

Spotify has officially increased prices for its premium plans across India starting August 4, 2025.This marks the platform’s first price revision since its India launch in the year 2019.Most premium plans will now cost approximately Rs.20 more than their previous monthly rates. Spotify said it will notify all subscribers about the new pricing structure via email soon.The individual premium plan now costs Rs.139 per month, up from the previous RS.119.These changes are part of Spotify’s global move to boost its overall revenue streams.

The price hike affects both new users and existing subscribers renewing their premium memberships. Spotify continues offering a one-month free trial to new users joining the premium service now. All updated prices take effect immediately for users signing up or renewing after August 4.This global strategy reflects Spotify’s intent to strengthen its financial position and sustain content development.

Spotify has increased prices across various premium plans including individual, Duo, family, and student subscriptions.The Premium Duo plan now costs Rs.179 monthly, up from the previous Rs.149 price point.The Family Plan now costs Rs.229 per month, previously available for only Rs.179 monthly.This 28% increase makes the Family Plan Spotify’s most expensive and significantly changed offering.The Student Plan has also increased to Rs.69 per month, a modest Rs.10 rise overall.These changes apply to all new sign-ups and to existing users on their next renewal date.
