PM Modi Invites Australian Businesses to Invest in India, Pushes CECA

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Australia-India CEOs Forum and Economic Roadmap Business Reception alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Melbourne, urging Australian businesses to invest in India and calling for the early conclusion of the proposed Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).

Addressing leading business executives from both countries, Modi described India as a reliable long-term investment destination and stressed that stronger economic cooperation would benefit both nations. According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the forum reflected growing commercial engagement and expanding opportunities across key sectors. During his visit, Modi also met former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and discussed strengthening the India-Australia partnership. Australian authorities accorded Modi a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour, while Prime Minister Albanese received him before both leaders participated in official engagements.

Modi Highlights Clean Energy Partnership

Highlighting India’s clean energy ambitions, Modi said the country is building manufacturing ecosystems for hydropower, green hydrogen, solar modules, and wind turbines. He reaffirmed India’s target of achieving 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070, adding that Australian technology, capital, and resources could accelerate this transition.

Modi said the world faces uncertainty, supply chain disruptions, and energy challenges, making India and Australia natural and trusted partners. He added that both countries have built a strong framework for deeper economic, strategic, and technological cooperation by combining their respective strengths.
