Gold prices across India posted a notable increase, with 24-carat rates climbing to ₹159,180 per 10 grams after rising ₹2,060 from the previous close, signaling renewed bullish sentiment in the bullion market. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold reached ₹145,915 and 18-carat stood at ₹119,385 per 10 grams, reflecting a uniform 1.31% jump across purity segments.

Market analysts explain that international spot prices, currency fluctuations, and import duties strongly influence domestic rates, which makes tracking global indicators essential for investors.
A weaker US dollar typically boosts demand because it makes gold cheaper for holders of other currencies, encouraging broader buying activity. Moreover, investors closely monitor central bank policies, inflation expectations, and interest rate outlooks because these macroeconomic factors often determine whether funds shift toward safe-haven assets like gold or move into risk-oriented investments such as equities and bonds.

Why Prices Differ Across Cities

Rates in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru vary due to local taxes, transportation costs, and jewellers’ margins, which collectively shape final retail pricing. Indian prices remain roughly 4.20% higher than Dubai levels, prompting buyers to compare markets and reassess purchasing strategies before investing. Experts believe ongoing geopolitical tensions, trade uncertainties, and safe-haven demand could continue supporting gold prices in the near term.

Additionally, logistical expenses, local demand patterns, state taxes, transportation costs, and jewellers’ margins also influence city-wise variations, which is why gold rates in metropolitan hubs or high-consumption markets often appear slightly higher than in regions where demand, operational overheads, and retail competition remain comparatively lower.
