Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has criticised the Jauhar sequence in Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone. She raised concerns about the message the scene could send to rape survivors. Speaking at the Woman Life Freedom talk in Delhi, Swara questioned whether the film links a woman’s honour with suicide. She said the portrayal could make survivors feel that they should not continue living after sexual assault. Swara described the scene as deeply problematic and emotionally disturbing.
