Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed she had a concussion on the Citadel Honey Bunny set and wasn’t taken to the hospital

Samantha Ruth Prabhu discussed her role in the upcoming series Citadel: Honey Bunny while managing myositis, an autoimmune disorder impacting her muscles. She mentioned that her condition sometimes posed challenges during filming. In a recent interview with Galatta India, she recalled an incident where she suffered a concussion and briefly lost consciousness.

Samantha’s Experience with Concussion

Samantha Ruth Prabhu recounted, “I had a concussion and forgot names afterward.” She added, “I completely blanked out. Looking back, no one took me to the hospital or even asked.” Writer Sita Menon chimed in, “We were on a call with a doctor.” To which Samantha playfully responded, “Which doctor?” Sita replied, “You don’t remember because of the concussion.”

Samantha recalled, “During my concussion, I heard that we only had the set for less than a day and needed to wrap up the shoot. In that state, I thought, ‘I’m coming, everyone!’ Then I saw the stunt guy in front of me and wondered, ‘What am I doing?’ That’s when they said, ‘Okay, cut, this isn’t happening.’”

The actress admitted that she initially urged directors Raj and DK to find a replacement for her due to her health issues. Samantha shared, “I begged them to move on because I genuinely didn’t think I could do it. I was certain I couldn’t.” She even suggested other actresses for the role, saying, “I sent them a list of recommendations, saying, ‘Look at this heroine; she’s fantastic. She would be great. I can’t do this.’ I offered four options because I was really unwell.”

Despite her initial doubts, Samantha persevered and discovered strength in the challenge. She expressed deep gratitude after seeing the final product, stating, “Now that I’ve watched the show, I’m so thankful they didn’t proceed without me and that I found the strength to carry on. Even before the audience’s verdict, I’m proud of myself for making it through.”

Citadel: Honey Bunny is an eagerly awaited spin-off of the American spy-action series Citadel, featuring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. Set to premiere on November 7, the series promises a mix of action and drama, highlighting Samantha’s remarkable return.
