Akshay Kumar, the Bollywood superstar, now holds the Guinness World Record for taking the most self-portraits in three minutes. According to a recent report, the actor set a new record when he took 184 selfies in three minutes. Kumar expressed gratitude to his fans for helping him achieve this goal.
“I am ecstatic at breaking this unique World Record and sharing this moment with my fans! Everything that I have achieved so far and where I am at this moment of my life, is due to the unconditional love and support of my fans everywhere. This was my way of paying a special tribute to them, of acknowledging how they have stood by me and my work in my entire career,” he was quoted as telling news agency.
James Smith of the United States previously held the world record for taking 168 selfies in three minutes. Smith accomplished the feat on the Carnival Dream cruise ship on January 22, 2018.
Before Smith, Dwayne Johnson, a global icon and Hollywood actor, held the record with 105 selfies in three minutes at the San Andreas premiere in London in 2015.
Kumar earned the new title while promoting his upcoming film ‘Selfiee’ in Mumbai. The fans present at the promotions aided the actor in accomplishing this goal.
Besides Kumar, ‘Selfiee’ stars Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty in the lead roles. Helmed by Raj Mehta, the movie marks the first collaboration between Kumar and Hashmi. The duo have been rigorously promoting their upcoming movie.
‘Selfiee’ is all set to release on February 24. The film is an official Hindi remake of the 2019 Malayalam-language comedy-drama ‘Driving License’, starring Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles.
