Veteran actor and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan frequently makes headlines for her frosty exchanges with the paparazzi. Nearly every public appearance of hers sparks discussion, as photographers often try to provoke a reaction. Amid this, a section of the industry has suggested that her repeated run-ins with the media at events could be affecting how her grandson Agastya Nanda’s films are perceived — and possibly his career trajectory.

Carrying forward the Bachchan family’s film legacy, Agastya — grandson of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan — has appeared in two projects so far. He made his debut with Netflix’s 2023 release The Archies and later featured in Sriram Raghavan’s 2026 war drama Ikkis. However, both films fell short of expectations, fueling speculation that Jaya’s strained rapport with photographers might be influencing his early reception in the industry.
Rejecting the notion outright, Jaya Bachchan told Variety India in a recent interview, “No power on earth can alter my grandson’s destiny. If Agastya is destined to be a star, nothing can stand in his way.”
