Producer Mangat Pathak revealed that Khanna withdrew from Drishyam 3 just a day or two before his film Dhurandhar released. The team called and messaged him multiple times, but Khanna did not respond, forcing the producers to take legal action.
“The notice instructed him to honor the agreement, or we would file a case in court,” Pathak said.
He added that it remains unclear whether disagreements over his look or another reason caused Khanna to quit the film.

The team had already completed preparations for Khanna’s character, including costumes and sets, and scheduled his dates until March. Suffering losses from his withdrawal, the producers finalized Jaideep Ahlawat to prevent further delays in shooting.
Pathak described the situation as “disappointing,” noting that he had previously worked with Khanna on Aakrosh and Section 375 without issues. He also suggested that Khanna’s increased social media presence and Dhurandhar’s success might have influenced his decision.
The makers will release Drishyam 3, starring Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar and Tabu as former cop Meera Deshmukh, in theatres on October 2, 2026.
