first Bollywood film to hit ₹200 crore
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, movie has earned ₹165.75 crore net (₹198.85 crore gross) in India during its first five days. Additionally, the film has grossed ₹30 crore overseas, bringing its total global earnings to ₹228.85 crore. This achievement makes Chhaava the first Bollywood film to surpass the ₹200 crore mark in 2025, and it is now the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, surpassing Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s Sky Force, which grossed ₹168 crore.
Chhaava has performed exceptionally well in Maharashtra, thanks to its subject matter. The film, a biopic of the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, holds significant reverence in the state. As a result, many theatres in Maharashtra have sold out shows days in advance, with major cities like Mumbai and Pune reporting over 90% occupancy. Even on Tuesday, a weekday, theatres in Pune saw 70% occupancy for Chhaava.
