Anurag Kashyap Almost Left Aaliyah’s Wedding, Vikramaditya Stopped Him

Anurag Kashyap’s daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap, married her long-time boyfriend Shane Gregoire on December 11. Anurag spoke about the emotional experience of witnessing Aaliyah’s wedding, admitting that he felt overwhelmed. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, he shared that he was about to leave the ceremony, but it was his close friend and filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane who persuaded him to stay.

What Anurag said

In the conversation, Anurag Kashyap shared, “I felt the same way when my daughter was born. I’m not sure why, but I cried a lot. It was the same at her wedding. I think I cried for 10 straight days. I don’t know why, and it happened in front of strangers.”

He went on to add, “At my daughter’s wedding, after the varmala and havan was done, I couldn’t handle it. I was so overwhelmed and emotional, I wanted to leave the wedding, even before the reception began. And I was going out but he (pointing to Vikramaditya Motwane) stopped me. He took me out, we went for a long walk and then we came back.”

Aaliyah Kashyap and Shane Gregoire got married on Wednesday, December 11, surrounded by their family and close friends. They shared their first official wedding photos in a joint Instagram post. A viral video from the wedding captured Shane getting emotional and holding back tears as Aaliyah walked down the aisle. For her special day, Aaliyah wore a beautiful light pink lehenga.

Anurag had shared pictures from the special day on his Instagram account, and wrote in the caption: “Ye bhi gayi .. @shanegregoire my Silly take care of her .
