Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’s first song Tum Kya Mile shows stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh channeling yesteryear Bollywood icons in Kashmir.

Karan Johar released the first of six original songs from his upcoming movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. The song, “Tum Kya Mile,” is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh, and pays homage to Yash Chopra’s opulent romantic comedies. The singer faces criticism for his cover of Pakistani hit song “Pasoori” for Satyaprem Ki Katha.

Pritam wrote the music for “Tum Kya Mile,” and Vaibhavi Merchant created the choreography. Amitabh Bhattacharya is responsible for writing the song’s lyrics.The Kashmir-shot tune pays homage to chiffon sarees and overcoats, featuring Alia and Ranveer in snow-covered peaks and white pastures in various outfits.

Karan’s lavish movie Rocky Aur Rani, featuring high family drama, energetic musical numbers, and 11-star performances, marks his grand comeback to mainstream Bollywood filmmaking, resembling Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He has only directed two short films in 2016, for Netflix’s Lust Stories and Ghost Stories anthologies.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani stars veteran stars Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and others. The film will be release in theatres on July 28.
