Yami Gautam on Love Story with Aditya Dhar: No Filmy Drama

Yami Gautam and filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s love story didn’t start with love at first sight or any dramatic moments. Instead, it developed naturally and quietly, and Yami believes that this simplicity turned out to be the best thing for them. During a podcast with Karishma Mehta on the Humans of Bombay Show, Yami shared how she grew close to Aditya while promoting Uri: The Surgical Strike.

Yami Gautam shared that during the promotions, she and Aditya Dhar started talking and became friends. She emphasized that there was no “love at first sight” or dramatic proposal moment, and neither she nor Aditya had any filmy expectations. Yami believes this simplicity was the best part of their relationship. She also mentioned that both families were fully supportive and happy for them. Furthermore, Yami expressed deep respect for Aditya as a director, saying, “He is one of the most respected directors. You can ask anyone who’s worked with him on his films. One of the things I admire most about him is that I’ve never seen him lose his cool.”

Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar’s love story began quietly on the sets of the 2019 hit Uri: The Surgical Strike, where they formed a close bond while working together. Their friendship eventually blossomed into a deep relationship, and after months of keeping it private, they surprised fans by announcing their wedding in June 2021. In 2024, they welcomed their son, Vedavid. Yami’s recent project Haq, directed by Suparn Varma, is based on Shah Bano Begum’s legal battle, while Aditya is enjoying the success of his latest film Dhurandhar, which has crossed ₹600 crore at the Indian box office.
