Uttarakhand: Helicopter crash in Uttarkashi kills 6; rescue work underway

Six people, including the pilot, lost their lives when a helicopter crashed near Ganganani in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Thursday. All six onboard perished in the incident. Relief efforts are currently underway at the crash site.

Chopper Crashe in Uttarkashi; Rescue Teams Rushed to Scene

The incident took place in the border district of Uttarkashi near Ganganani. It involved a helicopter carrying six passengers and its captain. Visuals from the crash site showed the mangled interior of the chopper. Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said as soon as news of the crash reached authorities, relief and rescue teams were mobilised and rushed to the site to assist with rescue operations and provide medical aid.

Cause of Crash Under Investigation; CM Dhami Orders Relief and Probe

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined. Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the State Disaster Response Force and district administration teams have reached the spot for relief and rescue work. “I have instructed the administration to provide all possible help to the injured and investigate the accident,” Pushkar Singh Dhami said.

Area Secured as Probe Begins; Crash Raises Concerns Over Mountain Aviation Safety

Authorities have cordoned off the area and continue relief efforts. They are recovering the victims’ remains and working to identify them and inform their families. Civil Aviation officials will launch a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the crash, examining the helicopter’s flight records and mechanical condition. This tragic event has shocked the entire state and renewed concerns about aviation safety in mountainous regions, where unpredictable weather and difficult terrain often endanger air travel.
