A tragic hit-and-run accident on the Pune–Solapur Highway claimed the lives of two teenage friends late Sunday night. The police confirmed that an unidentified speeding vehicle struck the teenagers while they were riding home on a motorcycle. The impact threw both of them off the road, and the vehicle fled the scene without stopping.
Locals who heard the crash rushed to the spot and immediately called emergency services. Paramedics arrived quickly, but they declared both boys dead on arrival. The victims, both aged 17, lived in a nearby village and had gone out for a brief evening ride.

Police Launch Manhunt for Accused Driver
Police launched a search operation to trace the vehicle using CCTV footage from nearby toll booths and petrol stations. Investigators have also begun questioning eyewitnesses and scanning road cameras to identify the accused driver.
Officers registered a case under sections related to rash driving, causing death by negligence, and fleeing the accident scene. Senior police officials visited the accident site and assured the families of swift justice.
The sudden loss shocked the local community. Hundreds gathered at the victims’ homes to express grief and anger over the growing number of reckless driving incidents on the highway. Residents demanded stricter enforcement of traffic laws and better lighting and surveillance on the stretch of road.

Meanwhile, police urged anyone with information about the fleeing vehicle to come forward and assist in the investigation.
