Judge Raises Concerns Over Porsche Crash: ‘Changes Needed on Streets,’ Urges Action

While remanding three people associated with two pubs that provided spirits to the youngster suspected of engaging in the Porsche crash to police custody, the judge presiding over the case wondered, “What will people on the streets do? Father Arrested for Allowing Minor Son to Drive Drunk

On Tuesday, Pune police detained the youngster’s father, who was charge under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act with permitting his minor son to consume whisky and drive the Porsche while inebriated. Police have also used a clause of the Motor Vehicle Act that allows a juvenile to drive without a licence.

Four Arrested in Porsche Crash Case

Police have charged five people with the same offence, including the owners and managers of the two bars. Four of these five were detain on Tuesday: Naman Pralhad Bhutada (25), the proprietor of restaurant Cosie, and Sachin Katkar (35), its manager; and two managers of restaurant Blak, Sandip Sangale (34) and Jayesh Bonkar. Bhutada, Katkar, and Sangale were brought before a court in Pune and held in police detention for three days till May 24. The minor’s father and Bonkar are set to appear in court on Wednesday.

Judge Orders Police Custody in Crash

The judge went on to say, “Both reason and logic must be consider when deciding on this remand application.” According to the learn lawyer for the accuse, the offence cannot be separate at this stage. Given the nature of the offence, the allegations against the accused, and the reasons for seeking police custody, it is just and necessary to give custodial remand to the accused until May 24.”
