The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has released a detailed report on the tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station that claimed 20 lives. The report states that after the Shivganga Express departed from platform 12 at 8 PM, a large crowd gathered on the platform.
The RPF inspector noticed that the paths to platforms 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 at New Delhi Railway Station were completely jammed. To manage the situation, the inspector advised the station director to run the special train early. Seeing the rush, the inspector also instructed the railway team to immediately stop selling 1,500 tickets per hour for Prayagraj.

The report states that at 8:45 PM, authorities announced that the Kumbh Special train to Prayagraj would depart from platform 12. However, a short while later, they announced that the train would leave from platform 16 instead.
Upon hearing this, passengers waiting on platforms 12-13 and 14-15 rushed to climb foot over bridges 2 and 3 using the stairs. At the same time, passengers from another train were descending, creating massive congestion. The chaotic situation quickly escalated, causing the tragic stampede.

Death Count Rises to 20 in New Delhi Station Stampede
The railways previously claimed that they did not change the train’s platform. However, the death toll from the stampede has now risen to 20. The report confirms that the tragic incident claimed 20 lives.
