Authorities reported on Friday that after four hours of rigorous firefighting efforts, the fire at the 15-storey Times Tower building in Mumbai’s Lower Parel area was successfully brought under control.
The fire broke out in the building located at the Kamala Mills compound at around 6.30 am, the official said. The fire brigade had declared it a level 2 (major) fire and sent eight fire engines and other fire fighting vehicles to the spot. There has been no report of any casualty.
According to the civic officials, the fire started from the electrical duct and was confined between the seventh and third floor of the fifteen-storey building. “Five fire engines and seven jumbo tankers were pressed into operation,” the officials informed.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Sandeep Deshpande commented on the incident, noting that this marks the third fire in the Kamala Mills compound in the last five years. He raised concerns over the lack of fire safety audits and blamed rising illegal construction in the area, which he claims is being supported by local MLAs.

As fire crews continue their efforts, authorities are investigating the cause and assessing any damage to the structure. The incident has raised fresh alarms over fire safety measures in the city’s high-rise buildings.
