At least 42 people are feared dead after a deadly collision involving a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims . Local Saudi media reported that many victims are believed to be Indian nationals. The bus was travelling from Makkah to Madina when the accident occurred near Mufrihat. The crash happened around 1:30 am IST during the early morning hours. Most passengers on board reportedly belonged to Hyderabad in Telangana.

The Telangana government contacted the Indian Embassy in Riyadh after receiving initial reports. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed officials to coordinate closely with embassy authorities. The government also issued two emergency helpline numbers for public assistance.
Embassy Sets Up 24×7 Helpline For Families of Victims
The Indian Embassy in Jeddah established a 24×7 control room to support families. The embassy released a toll-free helpline number for quick assistance. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi confirmed that 42 Umrah pilgrims were on the bus. He said he is in touch with the Deputy Chief of Mission for updates. Owaisi urged the central government to bring the bodies home and treat the injured properly.
Several Hyderabad-Based Pilgrims Among Those Feared Dead
Reports claimed that 16 pilgrims from two Hyderabad-based travel agencies were killed. The agencies involved were Al-Meena Hajj and Umrah Travels from the city. Officials continue working to identify victims and support affected families. The devastating fire has caused immense grief among Indian communities abroad. Authorities in both countries are coordinating to manage rescue and identification efforts.
