Deadly Lucknow Fire Brings Past Regulatory Decisions Under Scrutiny
The building, identified as MS/102/D, is located in Sector D of Aliganj. It was originally allotted to Vijay Kumar under a hire-purchase scheme. The allotment occurred through a lottery conducted by the development authority. Records indicate the allotment was made on July 11, 1980. An agreement was executed between both parties on November 4, 1980. Following completion of formalities, possession was handed over to the allottee.In 2005, ownership was registered jointly in Vijay Kumar and Usha’s names. The transfer was completed through a legally executed sale deed. Authorities later discovered unauthorised construction activities on the allotted premises. Subsequently, the Lucknow Development Authority initiated Case No. 08/2016. The case was registered against Virendra Pratap Shukla over alleged violations. Following an inquiry, the competent authority ordered demolition on May 10, 2016. The order targeted portions identified as unauthorised under applicable development regulations.
