A tragic road accident in Florida took the life of Guntipalli Sowmya, a 25-year-old student from Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Sowmya had finished her master’s at Florida Atlantic University. She was hit by a speeding car on May 26 while crossing the road after grocery shopping, and she died instantly. She moved to the US two years ago for her studies and sought employment after graduation.

Family of Fallen Telangana Student Appeals for Aid Amidst Grief and Financial Struggle
Originally from Yadagaripalle village, Sowmya’s untimely death has left her parents, Koteshwara Rao and Balamani, in deep sorrow. Her father, a former CRPF jawan who now runs a general store, had made significant sacrifices to support her education abroad. The family has appealed to the government for help in bringing her body back to Telangana. Rao shared his grief, mentioning that Sowmya had recently celebrated her 25th birthday on May 11, and he had sent her clothes for the occasion.

Following the tragic loss, the family seeks community support. A GoFundMe page reveals Rao’s struggle to fund his daughter’s studies, showcasing his dedication to her aspirations. Their plea highlights the financial and emotional strain as they work on repatriating Sowmya’s body and coping with the profound grief.
