“Why Didn’t You Stop?” Gurugram Biker Confronts Driver Over “Feeling Sorry” Comment

New Delhi: Instagram creator Sia questioned Kalyan Bainsla after he said he felt sorry following their Gurugram road accident. Sia challenged Bainsla’s account and said videos from the incident clearly showed what happened during Sunday’s crash.

Bainsla said he did not know whether the biker was a woman and claimed videos showed only one side. He also questioned why footage involving Sia’s male friend had not emerged after the incident, according to reports. Sia rejected his claims and said he repeatedly followed her despite allegedly believing bikers were slowing down. She asked why Bainsla continued following her if he genuinely believed they repeatedly changed their speed. Sia also rejected his claim that he could not identify her as a woman riding. She said Bainsla saw her hair, approached her closely, made gestures, and signalled her to stop. Sia questioned why two videos would not provide enough evidence when both reportedly captured different angles. She said one video showed the car moving across lanes before striking her motorcycle and fleeing. She said her camera captured the car crossing lanes, hitting her bike, dragging her, and leaving.

Sia Questions Driver’s Actions, Brother Details Her Injuries

Sia then questioned Bainsla’s claim that he felt sorry for her after allegedly hitting her motorcycle. She said anyone who genuinely felt concerned should have stopped and checked whether she suffered injuries. Sia warned that the crash could have caused broken bones, severe injuries, or even death. She criticised the alleged decision to flee without checking whether the person remained alive afterward. Sia also said such incidents make women feel increasingly unsafe while travelling through Delhi and Gurugram. She criticised people who complain about family suffering while ignoring risks faced by other women. Sia said she rode her Aprilia RS 457 with several bikers when a white sedan followed. She alleged that the occupants behaved aggressively, appeared intoxicated, and repeatedly tried approaching her motorcycle.

According to Sia, the sedan suddenly crossed her path and struck her motorcycle on Golf Course Road. She alleged that the impact dragged her bike for nearly 300 metres before the occupants fled the scene. Her friends reportedly chased the vehicle, but the occupants managed to escape from the accident site. Following the incident, Sia filed a complaint with Gurugram Police seeking immediate action against the accused driver. Meanwhile, Sia’s brother said she initially avoided serious injuries but later developed severe muscle pain and body aches. He explained that adrenaline initially masked the pain, but her injuries became more noticeable afterward. Sia also suffered several scratches and abrasions and required painkillers to manage the widespread body pain. The family later met officials at the Sector 56 police station, where police registered an FIR. They sought charges related to harassment, attempted murder, and hit-and-run following the alleged incident. Police are expected to record Sia’s detailed statement as part of the ongoing investigation. She will subsequently issue a public statement addressing the incident and the allegations surrounding the case.
