Two individuals lost their lives, and three others suffered severe injuries when their speeding vehicle crashed into a tree while attempting to pass a truck on a highway in Gujarat’s Anand district. The tragic car crash unfolded as the group live-streamed their journey from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on Instagram Live, depicting the car traveling at a velocity of 180 kmph. The victims, identified as Chirag Patel and Aman Sheikh, met with the accident on May 2 along National Highway 48 near Adas village.
Live Streamed Tragedy: Moments Before the Fatal Car Crash
Embarking on their trip around midnight in a Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the five young men opted to document their excursion on Instagram Live. The footage commenced with an interior view of the vehicle, featuring two individuals greeting viewers amidst the backdrop of loud music. Subsequently, the camera shifted to the speedometer, illustrating the car’s speed fluctuating between 160 and 180 kmph. The device then transitioned to the three passengers in the back seat, showcasing them reveling in the journey, dancing, and enthusiastically participating in the music.
Shortly before the tragic event, the vehicle accelerated further, accompanied by expletives and a request to “turn on the music.” While attempting to overtake a truck, the car emitted the sound of screeching wheels and a loud impact, culminating in a halt. Unfortunately, Chirag Patel and Aman Sheikh succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the remaining occupants were hospitalized with severe injuries. The driver, identified as Mustafa alias Shahbaz Khan Pathan, faces charges of reckless driving filed by the police. The viral Instagram Live video, verified by Anand SP Gaurav Jasani, underscored the perils associated with reckless driving, urging for heightened awareness and caution on the roads.
