The tragic accident in Dehradun claimed the lives of six young people, including three men and three women, all under 25 years of age. Despite the severity of the incident, the families of the victims have yet to file any official complaints with the police. This absence of complaints could affect the potential legal proceedings, The Times of India reports. Police officials are currently seeking expert advice on the necessary legal steps to take in the absence of family-initiated cases.

Dehradun Accident: Truck Driver Cleared of Blame in Preliminary Investigation
According to an initial investigation, the truck driver involved in the accident may not be responsible for the collision. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning around 1:30 a.m. at ONGC Chowk, when a speeding Innova reportedly crashed into the rear of a container truck, which has a well-known blind spot at the rear left side. Police indicated that the impact left the car mangled, killing the driver and five passengers instantly, with only one survivor, Siddhesh Agrawal, who remains critically injured in the hospital.

Police Seek Legal Guidance in Fatal Crash
Inspector KC Bhatt of the Cantt police station stated that, as the car’s owner, who was driving, died in the crash, he cannot be legally held responsible. Given this circumstance, the police are consulting with legal experts to determine any possible courses of action. With no complaint from the families, police have not yet registered a case but may consider action based on the results of their investigation and expert consultation.

Accident Analysis Shows Speed Surge Before Collision
CCTV footage reviewed by authorities shows that the Innova was initially traveling at a moderate speed while passing several key checkpoints in Dehradun. However, as it neared the ONGC intersection, the car appears to have suddenly accelerated, leading to the fatal impact with the container truck. Five of the six victims were from Dehradun, while one was from Chamba, and they were reportedly out for a late-night drive before the accident occurred.
