Deadly Rooftop Blast in Bhubaneswar kills two

A CCTV video has revealed the powerful Blast that shook the Sundarpada area of Bhubaneswar on January 27. The blast critically injured four people, and two victims later died during treatment. The footage shows flames suddenly erupting from behind rooftop water tanks of a residential building. Thick smoke quickly spread across the sky, and the loud sound caused panic among nearby residents. People rushed out of their homes after feeling the shockwave across the neighbourhood.

Police officials said the explosion occurred while suspects handled explosive materials on the rooftop. Authorities first admitted the injured to Capital Hospital and later shifted them to a private hospital. A woman and her son later succumbed to their injuries. Investigators have named Shahnawaz Malik as the prime accused in the case. Officers are examining the possibility of illegal bomb-making activity. Early findings suggest that Shahnawaz Malik, his associate Amiya Malik, his mother and another accomplice allegedly prepared explosive devices inside the house. Forensic teams recovered gunpowder from the site, which strengthened suspicion.
