CCTV footage shows Vadodara car crash accused holding bottle minutes before accident

CCTV footage has emerged related to the Vadodara car crash, showing the accused, 20-year-old law student Rakshit Chaurasiya, drinking from a bottle before entering a building. The footage, captured three days after the tragic accident that claimed a woman’s life and left four others seriously injured, provides insight into the events leading up to the incident. CCTV footage captured Chaurasiya and his friend Pranshu at another friend’s residence before the crash.

CCTV Footage Reveals Key Moments Before Vadodara Car Crash

The footage shows Rakshit and Pranshu arriving on a scooter and engaging in conversation before entering the house, reports India Today. The video shows Rakshit drinking from a bottle, though the contents remain unclear. Another clip captures the black sedan involved in the accident crossing the road and parking nearby before Pranshu enters the house.

Driver Swap Before Tragic Crash

Rakshit and Pranshu reportedly spent around 45 minutes at the location before leaving in the car. Rakshit took the driver’s seat, while Pranshu moved to the passenger side. On Friday, Rakshit drove the speeding sedan into multiple two-wheelers in Vadodara, killing a woman on the spot and injuring four others. He further asserted that he was driving at only 50 kmph and had not consumed alcohol, stating that he had attended a Holika Dahan celebration prior to the crash.

Eyewitness Video Raises Questions on Intoxication

A video from the accident site shows Rakshit appearing intoxicated as he steps out of the car, shouting, “Another round, another round!” Locals caught Rakshit, a native of Varanasi, and handed him over to the police. Despite this, Rakshit denied being drunk and claimed that a pothole caused the accident, making his car lose control after the airbags deployed. Authorities arrested both him and Pranshu following the incident.
