A blast occurred at the ordnance factory in Bhandara district, Maharashtra, on Friday (January 24, 2025), resulting in one fatality. According to the police, rescue operations are currently in progress as efforts continue to locate and assist 10 workers who may be trapped inside the factory. District collector Sanjay Kolte said the blast occurred around 10.30 a.m. on the premises.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis provided initial details regarding the explosion at the ordnance factory, stating that around 13 to 14 workers were trapped after the roof of a unit caved in due to the blast. In a social media update on X, Fadnavis mentioned that five individuals had already been rescued from the site. He also confirmed that the district collector and the superintendent of police were present at the scene, coordinating the response. Additionally, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) based in Nagpur was en route to assist with the ongoing rescue efforts.

Union defence minister Rajnath Singh expressed sadness over the blast and offered condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.
