Survivor Ordeal: Ramesh Escapes Air India Crash, Brother Dies

Ramesh admitted that he struggles to talk properly with his son, creating emotional distance between them. Air India offered an interim payment of £21,500, but advisers say financial support alone is insufficient. His fishing business in India, jointly run with his brother, collapsed, leaving the family without income. Advisers emphasized that Ramesh also needs psychiatric care, medical assistance, food, and transportation help urgently. They appealed for Air India leadership to meet families, hear struggles, and provide human-centered support directly. Ramesh recalled the crash’s horror, describing bodies all around him while he tried escaping from aircraft. He said months later, trauma still dominates daily life, leaving him unable to work or socialize.

Supporters continue to urge comprehensive assistance, arguing monetary compensation alone cannot address his multiple urgent needs. Air India acknowledged responsibility, promising ongoing engagement and support for Ramesh and other affected family members. The tragedy killed 241 of 242 people on board and 19 others on the ground. Ramesh’s family now faces an uncertain future, navigating grief, recovery, and rebuilding life after the disaster. Advisers hope this appeal motivates Air India to implement practical measures to assist survivors comprehensively.
