Two individuals lost their lives in the Rayagada district of Odisha when a train engine undergoing a trial run between Rayagada and Singhpur railway stations struck them on Wednesday night. In the accident, hundreds of residents from the local village obstructed the railway tracks, urging compensation for the grieving families. Thursday morning saw the railway safety commissioner, Brijesh Kumar Mishra, inspecting the recently constructed railway track to assess the progress of the work.

Officials from the East Coast Railway engine stated
A test train engine struck them near Debadala, causing their immediate demise at the scene. East Coast Railway officials stated that the victims were seated on the third railway. It is pertinent to mention here that railway safety commissioner Brijesh Kumar Mishra had visited the newly-built railway track

As per ECoR sources, the incident occurred as the pair was seated on the third railway track under construction between Rayagada and Singapore Road station, resulting in their immediate demise. Following the tragedy, local villagers blocked the railway tracks, seeking compensation for the affected families.
